Class 2
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back, we hope you have had a wonderful Summer break, we look forward to hearing all about your adventures. We are excited for the term ahead with a packed curriculum. We will be starting the year with the fabulous topic ‘How did we learn to fly?’ linking to the text Rosie Revere Engineer by Andrea Beaty in English lessons.
Our class page on the website will keep you up to date with information on what’s happening in Class 2 and give you a feel for our fabulous children and class. Please also keep an eye on our social media pages. Mrs Parkin will be the class teacher Monday’s, Tuesday’s and part of Wednesday afternoon with Mrs Ray, Wednesday to Friday. This year we have Mrs Creswell as our wonderful teaching assistant.
PE - PE will usually take place on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please note, these days may be subject to change, so we ask that children keep their PE kits in school every day. We send them home to wash at the end of half terms.
Spellings – Year 2 will continue with the Rocket phonics programme. Year 3 will be taught spelling using the Rising Stars programme, new spellings will be sent home on a Thursday and be tested on the previous weeks on the same day. Please ensure your child practises these spellings at home.
Reading – Children are responsible for changing their book once completed. In class we independently read every day and we expect the children to read at home, a mixture of shared and independent is great. To monitor reading at this age, it is vital that they/you fill in their reading diaries – this helps us keep a close track on progress. Please help with this at home, thank you.
Homework - A super exciting homework project will be sent out next week.
Clothing - please ensure all items of clothing are clearly named. This really does help us to return missing items quickly and easily.
If you have any concerns or questions about school or your child, please contact us directly on Arbor through the messaging service.
We are all looking forward to another term filled with learning and laughter,
Mrs Parkin and Mrs Ray.
