PE

At Culgaith C of E Primary School we have a rich PE curriculum which covers all aspects of the National Curriculum through a broad range of sports. Our aim is for our children to develop positive attitudes towards physical activities, furthering their enjoyment and engagement levels whilst supporting their understanding of the importance of this subject in their daily lives and the positive impact it can have on learning, physical and mental health.

The intent of our 2-year overview is to give the children a wide range of experiences from sailing and gymnastics to swimming and rugby. We believe it is important for children to understand that PE is varied and inclusive and includes a huge number of different sports and games for everyone to experience and hopefully love.

At Culgaith School we understand and promote PE as more than a lesson, we believe it is an ethos that we are delivering, whether in playtime activities and voices, after school club offers, or competitions and festivals. We promote equality of opportunity, inclusivity with appropriate support, good sporting behaviour and the strong belief that we should all celebrate achievement and encourage endeavour and resilience.

We are very proud of the PE and Sport-related opportunities afforded to our Culgaith pupils, which we organise both internally and with other local PE leads and the EVA Sports Cluster. We really enjoy taking part in KS1 and KS2 competitive sporting events with other schools - these can range from cross country to tchoukball to orienteering and beyond. The personal development gained in these sessions such as being a team player, supporting others and how to take wins and losses are as important as the sports based skills supporting the children's all round development as athletes, people and members of our school community.

Sponsored Walk 2026

What an amazing effort made by the whole school on our annual sponsored walk. This year our nursery, reception, year one and year two children completed a walk around Acorn Bank and the local area, whilst years 3, 4, 5 & 6 extended to a hike up Hallin Fell - some children even did the loop twice! A fabulous effort made was made by all children, parent helpers and of course our very generous sponsors helping to raise money for our wonderful school!

Girls Football Tournament

We pride ourselves on hosting our Girls' Football Tournaments. They continue to be hugely successful evenings with so many girls in attendance as well as an abundance of cheering supporters. We are so proud to continue to host such an important event that highlights and promotes Girls' Football. Who knows we could have the next England Lionesses right here, watch this space!

Our Girls did amazingly in the most recent edition of the tournament - finishing as runners up! Here's to even more success in the future!
